How are you involved at SG?
I am a student performer.
What brought you to SG?
I was drawn to SG’s mission-driven business model and the fact that the training is grounded in theater acting which lined up well with my background. I love the people who make up the SG community. I’ve met so many warm and engaging people at SG, all of whom are fully committed to making people feel welcome and supported. I really love that the culture isn’t competitive and that everyone has a voice at the table.
What comedy project are you currently working on?
I am excited to be part of the PRIDE version of The D Word with Diane Michelle on June 21.
*John was also recently cast in Broadway(ish), with debuts Saturday, June 15 at 10 pm.
Who are your comedy idols?
Scott Thompson and the rest of the boys from The Kids In The Hall. The kind of comedy those guys threw down in the early-mid 1990s really spoke to me and it still does. They were smart, irreverent and leaned towards the absurd…which is the kind of comedy that I really love. A more contemporary comic that I love is Tina Fey. She can do no wrong as far as I’m concerned.
What are your hobbies outside of comedy?
I wish I was one of those people who has a lot of hobbies, but I’m just not. I really love to cook and hang out at home with my hubby and our two dogs. There is often wine involved, so I guess food and wine are my hobbies.
What else is there to know about you?
I’m thrilled to be part of the SG community and am looking forward to being on the SG stage as much as possible.
John can be seen on the SG stage this month in Broadway(ish) on June 15 at 10 pm and in The PRIDE edition of The D Word June 21 at 8 pm.
