All-Hands Meeting Recap 1/16/25

Every quarter, we gather as a community to meet and share important updates and enjoy some comedy fellowship.

Whether you were in attendance or couldn’t make it this time around, we’ve made a comprehensive recap of the most recent All-Hands Meeting with information for you to read at your leisure.

Student Newsletter

  • Every two weeks, we will be sending out a Student Newsletter. This special newsletter is different than what we send to our general population and includes more ways to get involved onstage and in the community.
  • How to distinguish it’s not an email everyone gets: it says “Student Newsletter” in the preview text.
  • If you have ever taken a class with us, you should be on the student list
    • If you don’t get the student newsletter, contact Matt Fry or Sara Jackson to get added.

Operations

  • When to Trash and When to Lost & Found
    • Trash
      • Try to throw food into white trash bags, not black. No food in the bathroom trash.
    • Lost & Found
      • If you see something out of place that looks like it belongs to someone, put it in the lost and found.
  • We’re going to work to improve soundproofing between the green room and theater so it’s not so loud in the green room (thanks Chris and Sam!).

New Church Next Door

  • If anyone has issues with parking or proselytizing, contact Lindsay Goldapp.

Performer Opportunities

  • We have formed several new improv teams that are not house teams but are hybrid teams (under SG umbrella but are not House Teams), including:

  • We still need show ideas for 1:30-4:30AM slots. If you have something you’d like to pitch, contact Lindsay.

Community Conversation

At every All-Hands, we try to spend some time in an open discussion about topics relevant to our community:

We aim to never have a blank stage so we encourage folks to jump in quickly, but please be mindful to create space for those who move a little slower to the stage

  • People who might be…
    • Differently-abled
    • Older
    • Difficulty hearing
  • Be mindful of people wanting to go in who may need a little more time to jump in. Take the stage with them or clear a path.
  • Check in with everybody before shows and jams.
  • If you have an issue, please share it with your group / class / teacher so we can accommodate.

Inebriation/Drug Use/Alcohol Use before class or before shows

  • Inebriation rules will be reinforced in the day one email and by teachers on the first day of class.
  • Inebriation affects everyone’s experience and is difficult to bring up.
  • If you are concerned about someone, say something to your teacher or contact Greg Mihalik.
  • Meet for drinks AFTER class, please!

Pronouns

  • Just added specification of pronouns, if comfortable, to the top of each 7-week class.
  • Pronouns will also be recorded in attendance sheet so future instructors can know as well.
  • Get in the habit of using preferred pronouns, asking preferences, and sharing your own pronouns.
  • If someone is in the room, let them choose whether to correct or not. If they’re not in the room, help others remember.
  • If you mess up, just correct it and move on. No need to make a big deal.
  • Thanks to Milo and Nan for helping guide the discussion!

If you’ve read this far, you’re a superhero! Thank you for your continued attention, thoughtfulness and action to the topics discussed. Keep an eye out on your email and our social media to be notified when the next All-Hands Meeting will be taking place. We talk about different things each time, so we hope to see you there.
