Class is in session and the night is all about playing off-book! Extra Credit is a free community event designed specifically for improvisers to bridge the gap between the classroom and the stage.
Join us for a FREE musical improv jam, student musical indie team sets, and a student lottery where you can have the chance to jump onstage and make up tunes with seasoned musical improv veterans. Whether you’re an experienced performer or brand?new to musical improv, this community event is a supportive, low?pressure way to play and perform.
We’ve packed the evening with three “lessons” in comedy:
Registration is optional and just helps us plan—you’re always welcome to drop in and play! And the show portion (beginning at 8:45) is free and doesn’t require a ticket.
This month’s indie teams performing at 8:45 are Metal Dad Metal Daughter and OBJECTively Funny!
No one normal gets into heavy metal. Meet Metal Dad Metal Daughter, an improv duo bonded by a shared love of heavy riffs and wildly unhinged life backstories. Watch them turn moshpit lore into unpredictable, off-the-rails improv. Featuring Dustin Dykes and Avy Taylor.
OBJECTively Funny brings your sentimental, niche, or obscure items to life using the iconic Harold format. Starting from an audience suggestion, the team launches into a fast, playful opening, rapid-fire scenes, wordplay, and maybe even a spontaneous song. Then spins out three seemingly unrelated stories. Those threads return, deepen, and collide in hilarious and often surprising conclusions. It’s a thrilling blend of structure and pure improv magic, where chemistry and quick wit guarantee a one-of-a-kind, laugh-out-loud experience. OBJECTively funny features Rhod Ramsey, Lyndsay Long, Kalyn Clark, Robert Patton, Tanner Hudson, and Michael Rozum.
The veterans playing in this month’s Student Spotlight are Shenelle Peart, Dani Phillips, Lynsey Hale, Jeremy Duchin, and Greg Mihalik! Attend the jam and put your name in the lottery to take the stage with these seasoned performers.
The Extra Credit Monthly Student Musical Improv Jam & Showcase happens every fourth Thursday from 7-9:45 PM and is BYOB. Must be 18 or older. All participants are expected to follow the Stomping Ground Student Handbook; find our current policies and FAQs here.
