Every quarter, we gather as a community to meet and share important updates and enjoy some comedy fellowship.
Whether you were in attendance or couldn’t make it this time around, we’ve made a comprehensive recap of the most recent All-Hands Meeting with information for you to read at your leisure.
Announcements
- Thank you to everyone who had a hand in North Texas Giving Day and to anyone who donated. We raised over $18,000 for scholarships, which is our highest NTGD total to date!
- Thank you to Zach Barrera for repairing the drywall stage left and helping to make our space beautiful.
- Our brand new Improv Duo Competition will be coming next year, likely in March. We will be reaching out to those who submitted for the Throwdown as duos but we will also open it up to other duos. Submissions will likely open in January.
- Did you know there is a great food truck that lives right around the corner at our neighbor’s Peticolas? Every Wednesday through Sunday you can order online from Guitars & Growlers Food Truck. The menu and order form are here, and we will be adding QR Codes at SG.
- The SG Board of Directors adds new members to the team every spring in April or May, before our Annual Retreat. If you’re interested in serving on the Board, you should volunteer or join a committee at SG.
- Upcoming Community Events:
- SG Flash Tat Event: Our community loves flash tats, so why not have our OWN event partnering with a tattoo establishment and get some comedy tattoos for a good cause? Dylan is in charge of this event, and he’s already working on it. If you are interested in participating in this event, the first step is sharing your opinion in the survey here.
- SG Clothing Swap is coming soon! Hannah is organizing, and it will be open to all genders and sizes. Be sure you’re in the Community Slack to find out the details when they come out!
- Secret Satan is around the corner! The sign-up for this fun annual event will happen soon, so be sure you’re in the Community Slack!
Volunteer Opportunities
- My F*cked Up Thanksgiving needs someone to help run food for the show. It runs November 21-22 and November 28-29 at 9 pm. If you can work either weekend between 8:30-10:30 please reach out to Greg at education@stompinggroundcomedy.org.
- The 2026 Laugh-A-Thon is set for April 17-19. We are in the early planning stages but will need a lot of hands leading up to the event and that weekend. Mark your calendars!
- Help hang bracketed shelves in the hallway and Grey Room. If this is something that you could help with we would appreciate it so much! This would allow us to move storage up along the walls so that the Grey Room could be utilized.
Community Conversation
At every Community Meeting, we try to spend some time in an open discussion about topics relevant to our community. In advance of today’s meeting, we solicited suggestions for how to improve the space and discussed those at the meeting.
- Suggestion #1: Leaving space between our audience chairs to allow for folks of all shapes and sizes to enjoy shows in comfort. This suggestion was implemented immediately!
- Suggestion #2: Various sound-dampening and sound-proofing suggestions made by a student who happens to be a sound expert. They offered to help facilitate improvements and donate towards them. We will begin this process as soon as possible.
- Suggestion #3: Repair the Air Conditioning in the main theater space so that audience members and students can be more comfortable. We discussed that the HVAC system is actually too small to cool the space, but that repairing it with a larger unit would cost around $25,000 and add value to a building that we do not own. We did discuss, however, ways to more efficiently and effectively utilize the system that we have.
Thank you so much to our special guest who gave our community the valuable Know Your Rights training. If you missed it, you can find the slideshow presentation below, along with additional resources.
Thank you to everyone for attending. We’ll see you at the next Community Meeting and Potluck on January 15 at 7 pm!
