Stomping Ground Comedy, Dallas’ only non-profit theater dedicated to comedy, will host the inaugural 48 Hour Laugh-A-Thon fundraiser October 13-15. This is a two-day, one-of-a-kind community event where TEN IMPROVISERS and ONE MUSICAL DIRECTOR perform for 48 HOURS STRAIGHT joined by over 50 guest acts. We’re not kidding. And it’s all for a good cause.

For the inaugural Laugh-A-thon, we’ll be featuring some of the community’s favorite improv teams in our Community Spotlight series. Kicking off the series bright and early are New News News Crew, Mic Droppings, and SWIPED!

The New News News Crew, here to bring the news to you! The New News News Crew is Dallas’s premier improv news team, performing an entirely improvised comedy news program with help from the audience. The Crew will interview audience members about recent events in their daily lives (as they say, “in order to show the news, we have to know the news”) and examine those stories from multiple angles to ensure that all sides are reported. Ultimately, it will be up to the audience to decide what the true story is. The New News News Crew! We bring the news, so you don’t have to! The New News News Crew features Jaydon Graeme, Joel Jenkins, Ian Jungmann, Shenelle Peart, Natalia Trigo, and Joshua Reus, and are coached by Tristen Rouse.

Comedy worlds collide in Mic Droppings, which marries the worlds of stand-up comedy and improv. Mic Droppings starts with one of DFW’s funniest stand-ups. When the stand-up drops the mic, the Mic Droppings improv team picks it up and creates a series of fast-paced, improvised scenes inspired by their stories. Featuring: Justin Wayne, Krystle Sevener, Melanie Robinson, Lynsey Hale, Spencer Walsh, and Nan Kirkpatrick.

SWIPED! is a fast-paced dating experience using real-life examples of bad online profiles. Talented improvisers will embody those profiles we love to hate and speed “date” each other. When we’ve got a match – you’ll see a date between two wacky characters. At the end of the night will it be love, lust or a bust for our online personas? Share the profile screenshots you send to your friends by emailing swipedgame@gmail.com and they might be featured in the show! Featuring Audrey MacNeil, Dylan Gravitt, Hayden McGovern, John Gerhardt, Melanie Robinson, Nan Kirkpatrick, and Stephanie Bell. 

All 48 Hour Laugh-A-Thon shows feature various iterations of our Core Performers: Sara Jackson, Greg Mihalik, Nathaniel Weathersby, Ianne Warshawsky, Melanie Robinson, Joshua Reus, Liz Robinson, Shenelle Peart, John Gerhardt, Lynsey Hale, and Musical Director Josh Diamond. 

Community Spotlight is rated M for Mature. Tickets are $10 (plus fees) in advance or $14 at the door. Alcoholic beverages are allowed for all attendees over 21 years old; patrons are asked to enjoy them responsibly.
