Advanced Improv: Acting for Improvisers

January 7, 2025 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Learn how to fully utilize your voice, body, and emotions as an actor to enhance your performance as an improviser!

In improv, performers are typically without costumes, sets, and preparation, so the entirety of the story is conveyed through their acting. In this seven week class, students will learn how to make the most of their bodies, voices, and emotions in order to more fully connect with the audience while learning to play authentically and emotionally in imaginary situations. This class includes a showcase. The prerequisite for this class is Level Five Improv at Stomping Ground or graduation from an equivalent training program with permission from the Training Center Director.

This course will focus on:

  • Utilizing the basics of performance (projection, stage presence, blocking)
  • Forming characters that can be fully committed to
  • Sustaining vocal and physical choices and expanding your range
  • Learning and using the vocabulary of our characters
