Producers Anna Barden and Kate Greathouse, in partnership with Stomping Ground Comedy, Dallas’ only non-profit theater dedicated to comedy, will host the second annual Queen for a Day: A Royal Women’s Comedy Festival from Friday, September 8 to Saturday, September 9, 2023.

The festival is a collaborative effort between Dallas/Ft. Worth’s renowned female comedians and organizations including Anna Barden, Kate Greathouse, Claws Out Comedy, and woman-led non-profit organization Stomping Ground Comedy.

The festival boasts seven comedy shows and events throughout the weekend featuring female performers that include stand-up, improv, storytelling, and alternative formats. Each show highlights women and female-identifying performers from different backgrounds in a celebration of feminism and womankind, as they share their comedic talent with the community.

The fest will kick off Friday, September 8 with two 6×10-style stand-up shows featuring some of DFW’s best stand ups and conclude with experimental comedy brought to you by a QFAD Edition of Greathouse Playhouse.

Saturday kicks off at 6 pm with Madam’prov, which features three local all-female improv teams. Caturday continues with comedy brought to you by Texas stalwart Claws Out Comedy, a mission-driven comedy company that seeks to “normalize mental health awareness” by spreading their “pawsitive message of acceptance.”

The “crown jewel” of Saturday night is the 9 pm show, featuring headliner KeLanna Spiller. Spiller has been seen on Comedy Central’s Kevin Hart Presents: Hart of the City, and featured at comedy clubs around the world.

The fest will conclude with a special edition of Goddess: A Celebration of Women hosted by Bailey Maxwell and Lindsay Goldapp. Goddess is a live talk show satirizing the Goddess Party trend with special segments like “Tarot Card Google”, community keening, saging, and much more.
