The BAT Workshop: An Improv Format in the Dark!

October 27 @ 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Learn this incredibly fun & adaptive format–in the dark!

Back by popular demand and for one spooky Halloween season night only, come out and learn the improvised format that you’ll have to *hear* to believe! The Bat is an amazing soundscape of sounds, words, images, and associations, a performance piece that takes place in the mind of the audience and offers an incredible sense of freedom for the performer. Not just a “Harold in the Dark,” learn the form as taught by Joe Bill from iO and Annoyance Theater in Chicago. A great tool for ensemble building or as a format for performance, you’ll fall in love with The Bat and all its possibilities.

This course will focus on:

  • Deep listening
  • Ensemble work
  • Following associations and dream symbols
  • Creating & sharing soundscapes and characters
  • Letting go and finding freedom in the dark
