Great improvisers don’t just play characters—they become them. In this workshop, we’ll dive deep into character creation using Jill Bernard’s VAPAPO technique: Voice, Attitude, Physicality, Animal, Prop, and Obsession. By exploring these six elements, students will develop rich, three-dimensional characters that feel alive on stage.
Through guided exercises and scene work, participants will learn to fully embody their characters, holding onto their choices and viewing the world through their characters’ perspectives. This focus will help improvisers stay in character, respond authentically, and create dynamic, engaging scenes.
Whether you’re looking to sharpen your skills, break out of predictable patterns, or just have fun experimenting with bold new choices, this workshop will give you the tools to make every character unforgettable.
