This seven week course will focus on the writing and performing of stand up comedy. Students will learn to use joke structures and other tools to create their own material, culminating in an original five minute stand up set. The second half of this class will focus on revising and performing their set as part of a stand up showcase for family & friends. There is no prerequisite for this writing intensive course.
This course will focus on:
- What is stand up (and what is not)
- Joke Structure
- Premises, metaphors, and simile
- Learning to be comfortable by yourself on stage
- Adding Act Outs to your material
- Creating a set list
- Pitching jokes & new material
- Writing and performing your five minute set
All sales are final. Classes are non-refundable but enrollment can be deferred to a future term. All students must adhere to policies in the Stomping Ground Student Handbook. Must be 18 years or older to enroll, unless otherwise stated.
