Level Four Improv: Creating Characters in the Moment

July 7 @ 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Learn how to create living, breathing characters on the fly!

Students will explore a number of techniques towards the aspirational goal of character agility: being able to create various living-and-breathing characters – imbued with emotion, perspective, attitude, and physicality. Building on the emotional content work of the previous level, students will work to create characters with driving passions and objectives and learn to react honestly from these strong character choices. This class includes a student showcase. The prerequisite for this class is completion of Level Three Improv* at Stomping Ground.

*No advanced placement is available for this class for students with equivalent training from other theaters or training center.

This course will focus on:

  • Finding Character Physicality, Attitude, and Voice
  • Creating a Character through Different Inspirations
  • Finding Your Character’s Obsession
  • Exploration of Status and Its Impact on Interactions
  • Supporting the Scene with Different Devices
  • Developing Characters in Long Form Improvisation
