One Line Premise Workshop with Kevin McDonald

January 22, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Learn how to develop fully realized sketches with a comedy legend!

Kevin McDonald (Kids in the Hall, That ’70s Show, Lilo & Stitch) is excited to spend the weekend back at Stomping Ground, teaching students how to create original sketch comedy from a one-line premise!

In this four-hour workshop, students will come to class with a one-line premise for a comedy sketch, such as “What if a guy was $10 short of being a millionaire?” Kevin will work with each student to break down the premise and determine how they can write it as a comedic scene. After the workshop, students will have the option to go home and write a full sketch from their premise which Kevin will later read and provide written feedback.

Topics in this course include:

  • Developing full sketches from simple, one-line premises
  • Refining character and other storytelling elements in scenes
  • F?eedback on your writing from a comedy legend!

This is a one-day workshop held Sunday, January 22nd from 12-4 pm. The instructor is Kevin McDonald. All sales are final. Classes are non-refundable but enrollment can be deferred to a future class. All students must adhere to policies in the Stomping Ground Student Handbook. Must be 18 years or older. Stomping Ground Comedy Theater follows current CDC guidelines for masks, PPE, and social distancing policies. You can find our up-to-date policies and FAQs here.
