Musical Improv Level Three: Performing the Show!

Learn how to improvise a full narrative musical!

In this capstone level of the Musical Improv program, students will take the skills learned in Musical Improv Levels One and Two to create a fully improvised musical as an ensemble.  Students will learn the building blocks of narrative storytelling, including how to build the world of the musical, how to develop and support a protagonist as a group, and how to make moves in the moment to advance the plot, as well as learning the different kinds of songs that make up a musical.  This class will culminate in a run of shows on the Stomping Ground stage.  The prerequisite for this class is Musical Improv Levels One and Two at Stomping Ground Comedy Theater.

This class will focus on:

  • Want songs
  • Protagonist, Antagonist, & Charm songs
  • Story Spine and Plot Structure in Musicals
  • Developing & Expanding a Protagonist and Their World
  • Making Narrative Moves and Choices in the Moment
  • Opening & Closing Numbers
  • Performing the Show:  Musical Narrative

All sales are final. Classes are non-refundable but enrollment can be deferred to a future term. All students must adhere to policies in the Stomping Ground Student Handbook. Must be 18 years or older to enroll, unless otherwise stated.
