Level Four Improv: Creating Characters in the Moment

September 7 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Learn how to create living, breathing characters on the fly!

Students will explore a number of techniques towards the aspirational goal of character agility: being able to create various living-and-breathing characters – imbued with emotion, perspective, attitude, and physicality. Building on the emotional content work of the previous level, students will work to create characters with driving passions and objectives and learn to react honestly from these strong character choices. This class includes a student showcase. The prerequisites for this class are Levels One, Two, and Three at Stomping Ground or completion of another comparable improv training program.

This course will focus on:

  • Finding Character Physicality, Attitude, and Voice
  • Creating a Character through Different Inspirations
  • Finding Your Character’s Obsession
  • Exploration of Status and Its Impact on Interactions
  • Supporting the Scene with Different Devices
  • Developing Characters in Long Form Improvisation
